SOA

Click DNS Management > Domain > Views > Manage Zone > SOA

Note SOA stand for Start of Authority (SOA) record. SOA is information stored in a domain name system (DNS) zone about that zone and about other DNS records. Each zone contains a single SOA record.

To view information:

  • On SOA tab, user can show the current setting for SOA.

  • To start editing choose a view name in the drop down menu at the left side of the page.

  • To delete a zone, click "Delete This Zone" red button located at the top-right corner of the page.

  • To display any zone status, select zone from the list.

  • To edit the setting, click Edit button.

  • Enter required information for each of the following :

    • Primary DNS - Name for primary DNS.

    • Email - The e-mail address of the person responsible for administering the domain's zone file

    • Serial Number - The revision number of this zone file.

    • SOA TTL - Consider putting value between 1800 and 86400 ad default.

    • Refresh Time - The time, in seconds, a secondary DNS server waits before querying the primary DNS server's SOA record to check for changes.

    • Retry time - The time, in seconds, a secondary server waits before retrying a failed zone transfer. Normally, the retry time is less than the refresh time. The default value is 600.

    • Expire time - The time, in seconds, that a secondary server will keep trying to complete a zone transfer.The default value is 86,400.

    • Minimum TTL - The minimum time-to-live value applies to all resource records in the zone file. This value is supplied in query responses to inform other servers how long they should keep the data in cache. The default value is 3,600.

  • After done editing, click Save to finish or Cancel to abort.
